Accessing the Monash University Portal

What are cookies?

A "cookie" is a small piece of information sent by a website to store on your computer that can later be read back. The my.monash portal requires cookies to keep track of who you are as you go from page to page, so to access the portal, you will need to enable cookies.

To enable cookies in Internet Explorer:

  1. Go to Tools and select Internet Options.
  2. Select the Privacy tab.
  3. Move the slider down to at most High or Medium High.

To enable cookies in Mozilla:

  1. Go to Edit and select Preferences.
  2. Click the small "+" next to Privacy & Security to unroll.
  3. Select Cookies.
  4. Set Cookies to one of the Allow options.

To enable cookies in Netscape:

  1. Go to Edit and select Preferences.
  2. Click Advanced.
  3. Under Cookies, select one of the Allow options.

To enable cookies in Mozilla Firefox:

  1. Go to Tools and select Options.
  2. Select Privacy and click Cookies.
  3. Click Allow Site to Set Cookies.

Please note that most browsers will allow you to customise your security levels, create a list of trusted sites, or prompt you when a site offers a cookie. In terms of privacy and security, this is your best option for cookies. Some sites may use cookies to collect personal or sensitive information about your browsing habits, so always make sure that cookies you accept are from a trusted source.
